aloe vera face masks

Would you believe me, if I told you that you can have acne-free, radiant and soft skin throughout your life for just 100 rupees?

As absurd as it sounds, It’s true!

All you’ve got to do is buy an aloe vera plant for your house and let the magic begin!

They don’t just say that aloe vera is known to make a person beautiful, inside out. It’s been proved throughout history about how aloe vera helps our body to detoxify internally apart from the hair and skin nourishment that it provides, externally. Today, let’s talk about how we can use aloe vera with a combination of other ingredients to make effective face masks.

 

HOW TO HARVEST AN ALOE VERA LEAF:

Step 1: Cut the aloe vera leaf from the base

Step 2: Wash off the dirt using a soft bristled tooth brush, under a tap of cold running water.

Step 3: Using a sharp knife, cut out the cactus like thorns from the side of the leaf.

Step 4: With the help of a kitchen peeler, scrape off one side of the leaf.

Step 5: Use a spoon to scoop out the gel in a clean bowl and even it out.

Step 6: Transfer it into an airtight container and refrigerate to store it.

Once we have our gel ready, we can start making our masks.

MASK #1: De-tan face mask:

Ingredients required:

  • 2 teaspoons aloe vera
  • 1 teaspoon lemon Juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey

How do you go about applying the mask?

  • Apply a paste of aloe vera gel, lemon juice, and honey on the face.
  • Leave it on for 10-15 minutes and  then and wash it off with warm water.
  • Pat your skin dry.

How often should you practice this?

  • Using this mask once daily gives most results. However, thrice a week is also a good amount of time invested in this routine.

MASK #2: Anti- Acne Face Aloe vera face mask

Ingredients required:

  • 2 teaspoons aloe vera gel
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • Handful of neem leaves
  • 2-3 holy basil (tulsi) leaves (optional)
  • Water

How do you go about applying the mask?

  • Wash and grind the neem leaves with some water to get a thick paste.
  • Add aloe vera gel and honey to this. You can add some water to adjust the consistency of the face pack.
  • Apply this on the entire face or only on the affected areas.
  • Leave it on to dry for 10-12 minutes and then wash it off.

How often should you practice this?

  • Using this mask once or twice a week based upon the severity of acne is recommended.

MASK #3: Exfoliating and hydrating mask

 Ingredients required:

  • 2 tablespoons red lentils
  • 1 tablespoon aloe vera gel
  • 1/2 small tomato
  • Water

How do you go about applying the mask?

  • Soak the lentils for an hour.
  • Blend along with the aloe vera gel and tomato.
  • Apply this face pack and let it dry for 15-20 minutes.
  • Wet your fingertips and massage the face pack using circular motions.
  • Rinse it off completely with tepid water.
  • Pat your skin dry and apply a suitable moisturizer.

How often should you practice this?

  • Using this mask once or twice a week is recommended to exfoliate the skin, unclog pores and remove black heads.

NOTE: All the above mentioned masks can be made using the store bought aloe vera gel too. For people who can’t maintain an aloe vera plant at home, we recommend them to try the Patanjali Aloe Vera Gel. It is recommended because it comes with added benefit of vitamin E.
