waxing before and after care

Waxing is literally the best suited example for explaining the, “No Pain, No Pleasure” quote!

waxing

There is no welcoming the soft and smooth skin without the painful pull of the body hair. We’ll be honest with you, we can’t make waxing painless, but we definitely can reduce the pain and increase the time between your appointments.

Things to keep in mind before your appointment:

  • LET YOUR HAIR BE

Make sure that you don’t rush into or wait too long for your waxing session. Let your hair grow upto 0.5 inches long before you get it waxed off. If you’re running late for your session, trim your hair to the 0.5 inch length with the help of safety scissors or a trimmer and you’re good to go. The maintenance of this length helps you get rid of the in-growth and also reduces the level of pain experienced.

  • EXFOLIATE

It’s ideal for you to exfoliate your skin in between one week to 48 hours before your appointment. It helps get rid of the dead skin cells and ensures a more effective waxing session.

  • ICE PACKS

It is highly suggested that an ice pack should be rubbed over the skin where you’re going to be getting waxed. This should be done 30 minutes before the session. This helps people feel less pain.

  • SHOWER ON THE DAY OF YOUR WAXING

Showering on the day of your waxing ensures that the body is rid of all the excess oil, dirt and dust. It opens up the pores and preps the skin up for an effective waxing session.

  • NO LOTION

Do not apply any skin products, make up, tanning product or body lotion on the day of your wax appointment.

  • NO DEODORANTS

Deodorant use before waxing can cause irritation to the skin and lead to a bad job. Thus, It is highly advisable to avoid it’s use.

Things to keep in mind after your waxing appointment:

DO’S:

  • Wear loose fitted clothes
  • Moisturize
  • Cold water showers

DON’TS:

  • Scratch the waxed area
  • Exfoliate the waxed area
  • Take hot water showers
  • Perspiration and friction on the waxed area
  • Sauna’s and stream rooms
  • Exercise, gyms and swimming
  • Sunbathing, sunbeds or any sunlight and UV exposure. Sweat can infect open follicles and heat can irritate the waxed area.
  • Tight fitted clothing that may cause friction to the waxed area
